The Mohair Experience Museum
About The Mohair Experience Museum
Was built at the Jansenville Museum (Sid Fourie House) and was officially opened in November 2009 with the International Mohair Summit held in Jansenville and Graaff - Reinet. It is an experience to watch the processes of mohair - from the goat to the garment or fabric. There is also a shop in this building with the finest mohair products supplied by various suppliers of mohair products.
Angora goats form the main branch of farming in the Jansenville district and, while wool and meat are also produced, the economy of the town and the district depends largely on the diamond fibre mohair.
