About Fynboshoek Cheese Making Workshop

Would you like to make your own cheese?

Fynboshoek Cheese offers the public the opportunity to take part in the wonderful and fascinating art of making cheese. See how milk is transformed into cheese in front of your eyes, after which you can relax in our restaurant and enjoy a lunch that includes the cheese that you made.

There are two options:

The short two hour demonstration

In an environment that is similar to your kitchen, we will, step by step, demonstrate how to make your own halloumi and ricotta cheese. This demonstration takes about two hours and is followed by a cheese lunch at our restaurant. The cheeses you made that day will also be served as part of the meal.

The full workshop

Come to the farm for a day of cheese making. We will teach you to make yoghurt, cottage cheese, halloumi, ricotta and cheddar or mozzarella. You will arrive on the farm on the afternoon of day one, book into our cottage and can then familiarise yourself with the farm. There will be a short introduction to starter cultures and the making of yoghurt for the next day's cheese making. We then start the cheese making the morning of day two at 7am, enjoy a farm breakfast shortly thereafter and continue with the making of the different cheeses through the morning until lunchtime when there will be a cheese lunch at our restaurant (which will take you through to mid or late afternoon). You are free to enjoy the farm for the remainder of the afternoon, stay another optional night in the cottage and rush back home the next morning to start your cheese making!

Bookings are essential. Contact Alje at 072 342 0445 or info@fynboshoek.co.za
